We owe so much to our community, both as a business and as individual people living, working and spending our lives here. Integrating Gloster MEP into the wider community is a core part of what we do: our business is more than just work for us and we see it as an opportunity to give back, bring people together and support those around us. Learn more about our community values and the initiatives we have implemented to help make the world around us a better place.
Supporting Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes is our chosen charity and is very much part of the Gloster MEP family. We love finding new ways to raise money for this amazing charity and support them in their valuable work, as well as collaborating with them to offer employment and retraining opportunities for ex-servicepeople.
Previous initiatives have included:
- Annual golf days, which have raised more than £240,000 for Help for Heroes
- Participation in the 350-mile Big Battlefield Bike Ride with a team headed up by Managing Director Mark Aldridge
- Quizzes and other ad hoc events to raise awareness and funds for the charity
We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting Help for Heroes in their future endeavours.
Nurturing teen talent at Cantwell’s Gym
Cantwell’s Gym is run by professional British boxer Mickey Cantwell. He founded the gym to help teenagers stay off the streets and get fit, with many people going on to become trainers themselves and even to compete professionally. We’re proud sponsors of Mickey’s work and in true community spirit, he in turn supports our annual Help for Heroes golf day.

Our community impact
We love learning about the impact of our support and sponsorship in the community. Here’s a letter of thanks we received from Fuel the Future, showing the important work they’ve been able to achieve.
“I’m writing to give you an update on the Fuel the Future campaign and let you know what a fantastic impact your donation made. With your help, in the winter term of 2020, we provided over 500 free breakfasts to the vulnerable children of Southwark. We all know that ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day’ and starting the day will a full tummy makes such a difference, especially to school age children. It means that they are more likely to have a productive day of learning and go on to thrive in life as a direct result. The children now have a better attention span and more energy to focus on their lessons, instead of the pain of feeling tired and hungry.
As well as providing free breakfasts to vulnerable children, we were also able to help Age UK with their hot meals project. We donated fresh vegetables which we bought and then prepared for them, saving the organisation money on the cost of the produce and then the cost of the labour. The project was delivering around 300 meals per week direct to the homes of people who were in many cases either shielding or unable to cook for themselves. For a lot of these people, the twice weekly doorstep drop was the only real contact with the outside world. This alone really lifted the spirits.”
